Monthly Electrical Safety Call - January

Building on the foundation established during our introductory call, the second session advanced our active collaboration across the four priority electrical safety workstreams identified by the steering committee.

The session focused on reviewing practical tools, sharing early insights, and encouraging participation as we began turning ideas into actionable improvements.

Workstream Focus Areas

Workstream 1: Commissioning (Cx) Transition & Turnover

  • Reviewed the commissioning checklist developed by the committee

  • Discussed applicability, gaps, and opportunities for improvement

  • Gathered feedback from participants based on real-world commissioning experiences

Workstream 2: Unified Energy Control Plan (LOTO / ECP)

  • Shared tools and resources, including the use of AI to support energy control objectives

  • Transitioned into a discussion on LOTO/ECP practices, challenges, and alignment across organizations

Workstream 3: Arc Flash & Electrical Hazard Management

  • Reviewed benefits, limitations, and potential drawbacks of early application

Workstream 4: Contractor & Competency Management

  • Highlighted key points from the DCSC Safety in Data Centers whitepapers

  • Discussed contractor safety expectations, competency validation, and alignment across the industry

Open Collaboration & Participation

The session was designed to be interactive. Participants were encouraged to share relevant experience, tools, lessons learned, or ideas related to any workstream.

Attendees were also invited to reach out if they wished to present or lead a discussion in a future session.

This session reflected our ongoing commitment to collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement—because every step we take to enhance electrical safety could save a life.
