Skanwear Continues Global Journey With ABB; Secures North America Contract

Skanwear, the industry specialists in arc flash and flame resistant PPE, has announced that it has secured a new contract with ABB North America. The new contract, which follows on from Skanwear’s 2018 contract for all of ABB’s Arc and Flame Protective Clothing needs and PPE across Europe, will see the organisation supply personal protective equipment to those working in the Fortune 500 company’s many North American locations.

With 147,000 employees working across 74 countries protected by Skanwear’s Arc Flash Clothing, the company is well placed to help pioneering technology leader ABB as it strives to achieve global consistency in compliance, protection and image. ABB employees will be protected by Skanwear’s own brand of PPE, STRATA Protection, which is one of the most prolific dual certified inherent arc and flame protective clothing solutions in the world.

“We have enjoyed a longstanding relationship with ABB, and are very pleased to continue working with these innovative tech leaders as we begin our new contract with ABB North America,” says Skanwear Strategic Account Manager, Angus Long. “Following contracts in the UK and Ireland, and across Europe, we really are on a global journey with ABB to boost industry safety and awareness, and improve standards of protection on an international scale”.

“The demands of ABB field service engineers are tough, but working closely with ABB North America personnel, we’re confident that we can provide their engineers with the protection they need to minimise the risks of Arc Flash.”

The new contract with ABB North America ties in with Skanwear’s efforts to develop a comprehensive global compliance strategy, helping multinational corporations such as ABB, who are headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, to maintain high levels of consistency across all mobile workers. This ensures that individuals are provided with the same level of protection, the same degree of comfort, and promote the right brand image, no matter where they are.

ABB North America’s new relationship with Skanwear will provide this particular arm of the company with access to SAFELINE 2.0; Skanwear’s global customer web portal where ABB engineers will be able to browse and order the protection they need, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with personal protective equipment being delivered directly to their current place of work.

Skanwear’s unique logistics model makes it possible for the firm to deliver not only to North America, but to 52 distinct countries across the world. Currently, around three quarters of deliveries are made to directly to engineer locations, which includes hotels, job sites, and even home locations.
